Painted Star Equine Rescue INC. is a small family run horse rescue founded by Jennifer Brown and located in Fort White, Florida, 30 minutes between Lake City and Gainesville or 1 HR North of Ocala. We have been in operation since the 9th January 2007 and are a 501(c)3 tax exempt public charity. Our approval letter can be viewed on our website.
Our Mission is to rescue, retrain and re-home equines that are no longer wanted or useful to their owners and place them in homes where they ARE wanted and needed again. Most Importantly Painted Star Equine Rescue will only adopt out a horse to a loving and positive environment that is mutually beneficial to both horse and human.
Painted Star Equine Rescue INC. rescues horses from being auctioned for slaughter, takes in horses that have been seized by the state of Florida, and takes custody of horses abandoned or unwanted by their owners. We rehabilitate and train horses for use as companion animals, riding horses and therapy horses that are then available for adoption to the general public with approval.
Painted Star Equine Rescue also offers education programs to help educate new horse owners with respect to proper care, management and Natural horsemanship training techniques. Education clinics and demonstrations are presented to the general public on issues such as veterinary care, shoeing, safety, Natural Horsemanship training, riding, and neglect and cruelty to animal issues. Ourprograms are exclusively charitable, scientific or educational.
